I have always wanted my design to bring connection and conversation for all those who experience it. Previously I have brought this connection through branding design and recently wanted to expand more into my passions. Through Raven Literary Co. and my exclusive hand-made book, I am able to show others the beauty of storytelling both inside and out.        

Artist Statement

Reading has always brought me into a new world of excitement and has been something I wish I could share more with others. This inspired me to look at special edition books and the beauty they bring to reading. These ornate versions of stories created a connection with their highly detailed covers. Not only did their design draw me to them, but they interested all who saw these editions lining my shelves. With this interaction a conversion was started where I could share my reading with others, all because these books showed their beautiful story on the outside.

This project follows a model of a monthly subscription box that sends readers a popular redesigned book with exclusive art and illustrations. I wanted to recreate my favorite series A Court of Thorns and Roses by: Sarah J. Maas, to do so I launched Raven Literary Co. This book box includes exclusive hand gilded book edges, designed end-pages, a custom title page, as well as an accompanying illustrated information card. To create this edition I learned the craft of book making, using many different cover materials and hand binding methods. Once I knew the craft, I was inspired to design my edition after Margert Armstrong’s art nouveau designs from the 1920s. Using these floral elements and whimsical patterns I hope to bring others into the magic of reading.

Past Project

Celestial Scents is a personal project I started when I first became inspired by the art nouveau style. This natural brand uses essential oils to create their cosmic scents.
