Artist Statement

“Major” Changes is a digitally animated podcast influenced by both stop motion and motionless animation. As an avid connoisseur of social media, two of the most prominent forms of media I consume are podcasts on YouTube and TikTok animations. I have always been interested in how the people I follow on TikTok are able to create such cute and funny animations. I was so inspired by them that I created animations to accompany my recordings of interviewing two of my friends to both entertain and inform young adults in universities of the rocky but fruitful process of changing majors.

Pretty Blue

This painting was done in acrylic paint. Wanted to have the sole bluebonnet be the focus so I used a random mixture of colors to bring it out. Bluebonnets are beautiful flowers, but I wanted to show that they are more than just “blue” I made sure to bring out all of the colors in the flower that many people look over.

Paints in Waiting

This is a prismacolor pencil and pastel drawing. I took the reference photo myself at the Stockshow and Rodeo in Fort Worth. I wanted to show my love of realism art with this piece. It was entered in the Fort Worth Congressional art contest and placed third. The artwork was then hung in Congresswoman Kay Granger’s office for a year.
