Bio

I’m a graphic designer from San Antonio, Tx. I’m proficient in logo design and branding. My work tends to reflect a lot of myself and my experiences. I draw inspiration from my Hispanic culture, sports, being a mother and female empowerment. My design style tends to be bright and playful even while addressing more serious topics because I think we could all use a little brightness in our darkest places.

Artist Statement

Becoming a mother at a young age sent me through a whirlwind of emotions that I had never experienced before and I was unable to grasp onto anything familiar. In my experience, postpartum depression no matter how subtle is taken far too lightly in medical practices. They present you with statistics, pamphlets and videos that feel like homework. Doctors talk to you like you’re just another case, a notch on their toolbelt of experiences. Every time I felt confused about what I was experiencing I was directed to articles on top of articles, books on top of books when all I wanted was comfort and recognition for entering the world of motherhood. In my zines I use my own experiences and knowledge as a mother as an attempt to bring familiarity to those that have the same feelings and confusions as I did. I hope to open a conversation for other mothers like myself to relate to each other and articulate complex emotions to people who do not have a direct relation to our experiences. We shouldn’t have to fight to explain ourselves and our feelings constantly.

Senior Studio Project

What To Expect When You’re Expecting: Teen Edition

Based on the most popular pregnancy book in the world that was recommended to me throughout my pregnancy, I created a zine that reflects what you should expect as a young mother and my actual experiences that differ from what is presented in that book. The ridicule, the pity and all the ugliness surrounding what turned into the most beautiful experience of my life, being a mother.

Past Project 1

Roy G. Guerrero
Brand Identity & Experiential Design

The park is a historical representation of the latino community and a warm safe place to join
together. What I ended with is a combination of youthful and bright colors and traditional hispanic imagery called papel picado. My deliverables were a park logo, a website and signage
for the park.

Past Project 2

Equal Pay for Female Athletes
Social Design movement

Women makeup over 40% of athletes in the world and get only 10% of media coverage which results in a significant pay gap. I designed stickers/buttons along with posters and banners as aids for this movement
